Aromatherapy oils are used in aromatherapy massage. Using organic essential oils can promote healing and relaxation. These secented oils are mixed with a carrier oil and effect your mood or even treat conditions, like headaches and fatigue. Essential oils are made from distilling parts (bark, leaves or flowers) of a fragrant plants. Aromatherapy has been practiced for more that 5 thousand years. It was practiced by both the ancient Egyptians and the ancient Greeks.
Most Common Oils
There are hundreds of aromatherapy oils used in aromatherapy. Let's go over 10 of the most popular and what they're good for.
Clary Sage relaxes the muscles and helps relieve pain.
Eucalyptus also relieves muscles soreness. It has a strong smell that is good for relieving congestion and coughs.
Geranium is good for skin problems like acne and eczema. It has a strong smell that makes it a good bug repellent. It also can help balance women's hormones.
Lavender is the most popular of the essential oils. Most people know about its relaxing qualities. It's also a disinfectant that you can use on burns, cuts and other wounds. It has anti-itch properties. I use it on bug bites all the time.
Lemon is also good for treating wounds. It is a disinfectant as well. I use it in my homemade household cleaning supplies.
Peppermint has an energizing scent that helps relieve headaches. It can also be used to combat muscle soreness and digestive disorders.
Roman Chamomile a relaxing oil with a mild scent. It helps induce sleepiness and soothes anxieties.
Rosemary boosts the immune system. It can make you feel more alert and aware. It is also good to stimulate the scalp.
Tea Tree boosts the immune system. It's an anti-fungal agent and can be used to treat infections.
Ylang Ylang is an antidepressant. It aids in relaxation and helps reduce muscle tension.
Avoid Some Oils When You Have Certain Conditions
Not all aromatherapy oils are safe. Some should be avoided if you have certain conditions.
