About Me
That's me, Lovelyn Bettison. I'm a woman on a mission. That mission is to let the world know about the benefits of massage therapy. Before I became a massage therapist, I knew little about massage. I didn't know how massage therapy benefits the body and the mind. Frankly, I just wanted to change careers and thought massage seemed like a good job. As I learned more about massage in school and while working in my own practice, I began to see how massage can help the body heal and help improve overall health. I worked with children with cerebral palsy for a number of years and noticed improvements in their muscle tone and flexibility once they started receiving massage. As I received massage therapy regularly, I noticed improvements in my own health. I had less muscle soreness and generally felt more flexible. I also noticed that when I didn't get regular massages, I had neck and shoulder stiffness. Early in my massage career, I developed tendonitis in my thumb. I was terrified that my short massage career was already over. Once I stopped freaking out, I started applying the principles of massage that I learned in school and from other therapist. As I massaged my own hand on a regular basis the pain went away. Since that time I've used self massage to rid myself of carpal tunnel syndrome like symptoms that I had off and on a few years ago. I taught my husband some basic principles of massage. With what little he knows he has cured his tennis elbow. He used to suffer from chronic tension headaches that he now manages himself with massage. That's why I started this site. I feel like I know a big secret. I try to explain it to people, even clients and they don't listen or don't seem to understand. You can take control of your health, not only with diet and exercise, but with the thing this site focuses on--massage.
