Touch for Health
A Branch of Applied Kinesiology

Touch for Health is a branch of applied kinesiology that was originally developed for people who aren't trained as health professionals to use. It combines techniques used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western medicine, and bodywork.

Applied kinesiology was created by Dr. George Goodheart, a chiropractor who used muscle testing techniques in his practice. He noticed that if he massaged certain muscles he could help strengthen weakened muscles. Goodheart used this information to correlate different points with muscles on the body. The system that he created became applied kinesiology.

Goodheart started working with another chiropractor named John Thie. Thie thought the idea of kinesiology was very good and could be used by people who weren't trained health professionals quite easily. Thie systemized the techniques of kinesiology to give the average person better guidelines as to how to treat a problem. He called this new systemized version of kinesiology Touch for Health.

This therapy uses muscle testing to find weak muscles. The practitioner than balances the muscles and checks it again.

This therapy can be used to treat all of the same illnesses that kinesiology is used to treat, including:

  • TMJ
  • carpal tunnel syndrome
  • tendonitis
  • sciatica
  • muscles tightness and pain
  • plantar fasciitis

Many people learn this therapy to use with family and friends. It is relatively easy to learn. During the therapy the person being treated remains fully clothed and sits or lays down in a comfortable position.

Here is an example of how it's done.
