Massage therapy is often done in clinics, chiropractic offices, spas, health clubs, health centers, or even hospitals, but you don't have to go anywhere to get a massage. Massage can be experienced in your home or office.

Portable massage tables fold up quickly and are easy to carry. The therapist brings their own massage table, linens, oil and even music to your home for your therapy session. You don't have to worry about driving anywhere afterwards. When your session is over you just stay where you are and the therapist leaves. That's the beauty of in-home massage.

Getting an in-home massage doesn't have to limit the type of massage you get. Therapists trained in a wide variety of modalities do in-home massage. You can search massage directories and other therapists' listings to find a traveling massage therapist that specializes in the modality of your choosing. Expect to pay more for an in-home massage massage than you would if you got massaged in the therapist's place of work. Because the therapist is required to drive to you and carry equipment they will charge more for that extra effort. Usually it will cost about $100 for a one hour session. Some will charge a little more, some will charge a little less.

Another popular form of mobile massage is chair massage. It's becoming more common to see a therapist with a massage chair giving massages at events. This is a common site at outdoor markets, conventions, festivals, and even health food stores. On-site chair massage is even done in offices and places of business.

Chair massage is comfortable and convenient. You remain fully clothed during the treatment. There is no oil or lotion used. Usually the therapist uses compressive strokes along with some kneading combining shiatsu and Swedish styles doing the treatment. These massages are normally short and the average charge is a dollar a minute. Chair massages can last a few minutes or can last an hour. It just depends on the amount of time you book. Hour long treatments are not usually done at large events though.
