Massage Linens
Massage Table Sheets
Massage linens are used by most massage therapists unless they practice a form of massage that doesn't require the use of them, like lomilomi. Linens include sheets to cover the table, face cradle covers, fleeces, and towels. If you're looking to buy massage table sheets check out my linens store.
Most therapists that I know use flat single sheets to cover their tables during a massage. A second sheet can be used as a drape to cover the client.
I also use single flat sheets as my massage linens. They are convenient and easy to find. If I need new sheets I just go to a local store and pick some up. I don't have to order anything online. They're pretty cheap. Wait until your local department store is having a white sale and stock up. You can also find them at your local thrift store.
I like the size of the flat single sheet. I don't have any special cases to cover my bolsters. Instead, I put them under the sheet that covers the table. The single flat sheet is large enough for me to use a complete set of body cushions if I want to without any problems.
I use face cradle covers with my table, but you don't even have to do that. You can use a pillow case to cover your face cradle. Just fold the pillow case to the shape of your face cradle. Here's how to do that.
Lay the pillow case out flat.
Fold the top edge of the pillow case down to the center.
Fold the bottom edge up to meet the crease of the top fold you just made. Now you should have a long strip.
Fold one edge down at an angle.
Fold the other side the same way. Now you have a cover for your face cradle
If you have sewing skills you can sew your own face cradle covers.
I stick to using white sheets because some people are sensitive to fabric dyes, but you can use any color sheets you want. One therapist friend of mine uses all kinds of bright colored sheets to help brighten up her office. Which massage linens you use just depends upon your personality and what you want your massage business to be like.
