Body Talk (Bodytalk)
An Intuitive Form of Self Healing
Body Talk is a gentle form of bodywork that can be used to treat a large range of ailments. The principle behind BodyTalk is that the therapist encourages the body to heal itself.
BodyTalk was developed in the mid 1990's by an Australian chiropractor named Dr. John Veltheim. He is also a traditional acupuncturist and Reiki Master. Veltheim says that he's been aware of body energies since he started doing martial arts at 8 years old. He was a very successful chiropractor and even headed the College of Chinese Medicine and Natural Therapies in Brisbane.
After being diagnosed with Epstein Barr and given a week to live due to liver damage, Veltheim started applying everything he'd ever known about alternative medicine to cure himself. He sold his practice and started teaching stress management and Reiki around the world.
While in New Zealand, he was treated by a former student, Dr. Tracy Livingston. Livingston used a new technique that she'd been using on her patients to treat Veltheim and the fatigue and fever he had been suffering from since being diagnosed with Epstein Barr disappeared after the treatment. Livingston gave Veltheim all the information that she had about her new technique and encouraged him to teach it to others. He studied and refined the technique and teaches it all over the world. He has written several books including, The Body Talk System: The Missing Link to Optimum Health.
Practitioners of this form of bodywork believe that all the systems of the body communicate with one another. When the communication of these systems is knocked out of line the body gets sick. Practitioners work to re-establish communication of these systems. This sets the body on the path to healing.
This form of body work can be used to treat a variety of illnesses, including:
diabetes
arthritis
fibromyalgia
pneumonia
infertility
sleeping disorders
digestive problems
chronic and acute pain
mental health problems
menstrual pain
During a session you will remain fully clothed. You will lay face up on a massage table as the therapist taps various points on your body to bring them into alignment. Sessions are tailored to individual need and can be from 15 to 60 minutes in length.
