Asymmetric Body Balancing
Combining Therapies for Holistic Healing

Asymmetric body balancing is a combination of Iyengar yoga and Paul St. John's method of neuromuscular therapy. Both practices put an emphasis on aligning the body internally and externally. When used together they can provide powerful healing.

Asymmetric body balancing got its name because no one's body is perfectly symmetrical. Accepting the body for what it is is an important aspect of healing.

The therapist uses aspects of neuromuscular therapy to work on you. Your areas of pain are specifically addressed. The therapist will pay attention to the way you sit, stand and walk to help diagnose why you're experiencing pain.

Neuromuscular therapy concentrates on the interconnection of various tissues in the body and how they affect each other. The therapists may seem to treat an area that you may think have nothing to do with your pain, but releasing muscle tissue in the region will help you heal. The therapist tries to get to the root cause of the pain.

Yoga is used to help bring balance to the body. Balancing your body and mind through a yoga practice will help increase health and facilitate healing. The practitioner will give you yoga poses to do according to the area of your body that is in pain.

This therapy is often used to treat conditions like chronic pain and injuries.
